I have the honour to inform you that owing to

the departure on leave of absence from the Colony of Commander

R.Murray Rumsey as reported in my despatch No.77 of the 5th.

instant, his seat on the Legislative Council has become vacant,

and I have provisionally appointed Mr.Hilgrove C.Nicolle,Local

Auditor, to fill the vacancy.

I have not however thought it necessary to fill

Captain Rumsey's vacant seat on the Executive Council.
